About Nasir Rafiq - BA FCA

Dua Governance was founded by Nasir Rafiq, a widely experienced Fellow Chartered Accountant and an Expert in Financial Governance Advisory.

He has extensive experience of working with charities of all sizes. He also advises many small to medium size businesses and sole trader businesses.

Nasir has proven track record of developing and implementing successful organisational structures, business strategies and improving financial governance within the charity and business sectors worldwide. 

Nasir acts as a senior advisor, CFO and Governance Director to many large charity boards. Nasir has worked as the Finance & Corporate Director at Islamic Relief Worldwide, leading and reforming the finance, human resource, ICT, facilities and trading functions.

Nasir writes a well received blog www.duathought.com and is a regular contributor to ethnic TV channel and radio stations on governance matters.

After graduating in Business Economics from University of Leicester (UK), he qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) with KPMG UK. He spent over eight years auditing and advising Local and Central government, NGO bodies and education establishments with PwC UK and KPMG UK.

Nasir then joined the world’s largest contract catering and facility management FTSE 100 business, Compass Group PLC. In his Senior Internal Audit role, he visited and reported on the UK businesses and also worked in Europe, Middle East and South East Asia.

Before setting up his own Firm, Nasir worked as an Associate Partner at a Top 15 Chartered Accountants firm. He was the national lead on providing governance advisory services to the charity & business sectors.
